One of my all-time favorite sessions was the family session I did with the Conner family. Aidan is a little ray of sunshine and is a wide open full spirited boy.
Going into the session we had been concerned how to get Aidan to hold still long enough to get a decent posed shot. We were also at Saint Andrew’s State Park and near water.
Aidan is a fun loving little guy and his first thought was to make a mad dash down to the water. His parents were freaking out. I thought about it and decided, why not let him be him. So that is exactly what we did.
I had his parents hold him back long enough for me to get ahead of him. I snapped pictures all along his journey to the water and as we had anticipated, straight into the gulf.
You might be saying, WHAT? Portraits of a wet child, really? My answer to that is yes. The most precious portraits came from this session. We could capture the true essence of Aiden. His laughter, his spirit and wonderful personality came alive in each one of his portraits and his parents were thrilled.
I took away a valuable lesson from little Aidan that day, kids will be kids and we should let them. It is these special moments that will be priceless in years to come.
